What Does C-TPAT Certified Mean?

When you are looking for a transportation provider, you may see a notation that a particular provider is C-TPAT certified.  If you see this, that is a good thing.  C-TPAT stands for customs trade partner against terrorism. A company becomes C-TPAT certified when it has gone through training, established security protocols, and demonstrated that it can comply with guidelines set by the United States Customs and Border Protection Group.

Classic Transportation is C-TPAT certified, which means that we follow the security guidelines put forth by Customs and Border Patrol. Written verification is available to demonstrate that these guidelines are followed. Periodic reviews also occur to ensure ongoing compliance. This means when you choose us as your third party warehouse and/or transportation provider, you can be confident that the strongest security measures are in place to protect your inventory.

C-TPAT certification also requires other security features to be set in place in order to ensure that inventory is kept safe. This includes things like strict control of physical access to warehouses as well as background checks of employees and drivers who interact with shipments.
