You depend upon your transportation company to keep your shipment moving and to allow your supply chain to operate smoothly. If your current transportation company is not getting the job done right, it is time to make a change. Here are three signs it is time to switch transportation companies:
- The rates charged by your company are too high. You want to ensure that you are being charged market competitive rates for your transportation. You don’t necessarily always want to go to the company with the lowest rates, but you do need to make sure you are not being overcharged. If the rates are way higher than industry standards, see if your current company will lower them or put your services to bid.
- Customer service standards are too low. If your current transportation company has stopped working to earn your business and has allowed standards to slip, it may be time to find a new company that is going to do better for you.
- Your company is not keeping up with changes. Your carrier needs to be up-to-date on IT tools that help ensure things work smoothly. If your carrier hasn’t made changes or upgrades to information technology or to other equipment, it is time to look for a transportation partner who is more of an innovator.
If you notice these signs, consider making a switch to a new transportation company.
